Head of Sales
Be responsible for Arda Suppliers operations. Interact with clients and manufactors. Attend trade shows.
About Arda
Arda is a music hub in Campanhã, Porto, opened in 2020 in a converted warehouse. Inside you can find 7 professional recording studios (4 commercial), 5 production rooms, offices and Porto’s Municipal vinyl library.
The business operates in 5 different areas:
- Arda Recorders, the recording studios, which is where most of our revenue and reputation comes from.
- Arda Suppliers, pro-audio retail, stocking equipment the large catalogues don’t carry. Most of what we sell is installed and running in the studios upstairs.
- Arda Academy, training courses for people working in or entering the industry.
- Fonoteca Municipal do Porto, the city’s public vinyl archive of around 35,000 records. We host it and staff it under contract with the city.
- Tenancies: offices and rooms rented to composers and producers working out of the building.
The role
We’re looking for a head of sales to run the operation of our sales department (Arda Suppliers). You would report to the general manager and implement their strategy for the department. The main objective is to make sure daily operations are running smoothly, that the web-store is updated, that our clients are well taken care of, and to search for new business.
Responsibilities
Selling. Winning and keeping clients, quoting work, and knowing which equipment is right for which room. Search for new leads and business.
Orders and stock. Fulfilling customer orders and ordering merchandise from manufacturers.
The webstore. Keeping the catalogue accurate and up to date.
Marketing. Planning content for marketing and social media.
Trade shows. Representing Arda Suppliers at trade shows, which means travelling.
Who we’re looking for
- Experience in sales.
- An academic background in audio production, or real-world experience in recording studios.
- Deep knowledge of professional recording equipment, including digital systems integration and DAWs.
- Skilled at client interaction, and at managing problems in supply chains.
- Willing to travel.
Language
English is required. Portuguese isn’t, but it helps — settling in, and dealing directly with people and contractors.
Compensation
- €18,000 to €20,000 gross per year.
- Commissions.
Permanent contract.
